LUCY CHILBERTO

Lucy was born in Singapore and was educated in the UK, studying violin under Judith Young. Lucy played as a principal violinist with the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra, one of the leading youth orchestras in the UK, and later with the Leeds University Symphony Orchestra and the Banbury Symphony Orchestra. Outside of the UK Lucy has been a member of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in the USA, and played as a guest with the Orchestra of the Liszt Academy, Mikolc, Hungary. Since moving to New Zealand in 2006 Lucy has been a regular player with the Manukau Symphony Orchestra and a frequent guest player with the TWSO.

Lucy is also a keen singer and is lucky to have been a past member of the Wiener Singakademie in Vienna, Austria, several chamber groups in the USA and past member of the Graduate Choir, New Zealand.

Lucy is pleased to perform as Concertmaster for the Sunset Symphony 2012 and is looking forward to this spectacular musical collaboration with the TWSO, the Festival Choir and guest violinist Fiona Pears under maestro Rupert D’Cruze.
