TWSO Education – 'The Snowman'

Tuesday 4 August, 2015 | Hamilton Gardens Pavilion

Katie Mayes – Leader | Rupert D'Cruze – Conductor

One of the important dates in our season are our regular presentations for schools. For many youngsters this is the first time they will have seen and heard a full symphony orchestra

This year we will be presenting Howard Blake's enchanting musical tale of The Snowman, which includes the well-known song I'm Walking in the Air. As well as listening to the story, there will be an opportunity for the children to take part in the music-making

All schools coming to the event will receive a work-pack in advance to help the children learn and appreciate even more about the music and the instruments they will see and hear

Carmina Burana

Sunday 1 November, 2015, 4:00PM, | Founders Theatre

Amanda Atlas - Soprano | Chalium Poppy - Baritone
Katie Mayes – Leader | Rupert D'Cruze – Conductor

The epic music cantata Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, for large orchestra, chorus and soloists, has justifiably always been a highly popular concert attraction. We've paired it with Tchaikovsky's suite from his bright and tuneful ballet The Nutcracker to make a programme which we hope will delight and inspire you

Joining us in Carmina Burana are two great vocal soloists who have sung with us before – Amanda Atlas (soprano) and Chalium Poppy (baritone)
